Assistant Food and Beverage Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Summary

The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for management of dining rooms, banquet spaces, and all member-related dining services in the manner most pleasing to members and their guests. Assures a high standard of appearance, hospitality, service in personnel, and cleanliness of dining spaces. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consistently exceeds Beverage defined targets, by driving a personalized guest and teammate-centric culture and reducing friction points

  • Actively ensures that all food service staff in all bar locations are always acting as company ambassadors and displaying a positive and professional impression  

  • Assists the Food and Beverage Manager in the day-to-day operation and administration of the entire Food & Beverage department - supervision of all food production facilities, main dining rooms, specialty restaurants, bars, the top deck buffet and all related activities 

  • Circulates in Beverage areas to ensure that all bar food and consumable orders are being ordered in conjunction with the needs of the business and items are not overstocked or expired

  • Responsible for ensuring efficient management and highest possible level of all food and beverage services aboard the cruise ship while at the same time meeting the budget targets of the cruise line and maintains cost effective operations

  • Monitors the sale of Beverage packages on board during the first days of the voyage

  • Managing all applicable supply operational inventory levels and setting up operational inventory par levels as required 

  • Periodically holds spot checks of inventory in bars, bar stores, main storerooms and cellars in conjunction with the Food and Beverage Manager 

  • Oversees on-the-job sanitation and equipment related training and provides functional leadership to all food and beverage team members, ensures that they are aware of all policies and procedures of the cruise line, well groomed, in full uniform and knowledgeable about their specific duties and menu items 

  • Ensures that all USPH sanitation standards are met in the galley throughout the cruise ship 

  • Inspect storage lockers for inventory, upkeep & proper storage compliance 

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma or degree in hospitality, hotel management, or other related field or relevant technical training and experience 

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience within the food & beverage operations department of a cruise ship, resort, or full-service hotel or previous senior management background aboard a cruise ship 

  • Strong managerial skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment 

  • Strong organizational, analytical, detailed planning and project management skills 

  • Ability to work under pressure while planning, executing and following up on the various tasks in a very flexible working environment 

  • Excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken) required 

  • Understanding of the foundation of guest service; ability and willingness to deliver outstanding service to our guests

  • Personable communicator with outstanding social skills and a warm, friendly, and caring personality.  

  • Commitment to establish and maintain courteous and professional working relationships in a diverse cultural environment
