JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Summary

The Bartender is responsible for providing the guests with courteous and professional service in order to increase revenue for the cruise line using up-selling techniques and meet and exceed sales targets. Mix drinks, cocktails and bar beverages as ordered and in compliance with company standards.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensures that drinks are properly garnished and served in the appropriate glassware, the bar counter is set with napkins, straws, menus, matches and ashtrays, as well as ensures that all orders placed by Bar Servers/ Waiters/ Waitresses are properly filled

• Responsible for keeping the bar area clean and sanitized according to current USPH rules and regulations of the cruise line and for beverage inventory control, re-supply, loading provisions from the ship's storage rooms

• Follows and ensures that the Company beverage standards of service are adhered to and practiced by all of those working in the assigned bar are

• Fill orders placed by bar waiters/waitresses in a prompt and efficient manner

• Maintain clean and orderly lounges/bars

• Responsible for preparing drinks according to the standard recipes 

• Ensures that beverage promotions, as determined by the Company, are in place and adhered to in assigned bar area. Ensures that work area is kept neat, clean and organized always

• Responsible for the proper use and maintenance of all equipment in assigned bar area

• Responsible for properly accounting for food and/or beverage sales in the POS terminal

• Ensures that all liquor control procedures for the department are adhered to in assigned bar area 

• Maintains and updates sales records and reports as required by Company policy

• Follows key control procedure and ensures that assigned bar area is locked and secured during non-operating hours

Required Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Minimum two to three years of beverage serving experience in a hotel, bar, resort, or an equivalent combination of experience and education

• Minimum one year experience as a Bartender for a large cruise ship or high-volume luxury hotel or resort. Cruise ship experience is preferred

• Excellent communication skills and good command of the English language, knowledge of additional languages is a plus

• Ability to work in a multicultural environment

• Candidates must be able quickly to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, tips, proportions and percentages
