Position Summary

The Director of Ecommerce will lead and oversee all aspects of the organization’s online sales and digital commerce strategy across the Caribbean region. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, enhancing customer experience, and optimizing ecommerce operations in a dynamic and diverse market. The Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies that align with the company’s goals, leveraging regional market trends and consumer behavior unique to the Caribbean. The ideal candidate will drive revenue growth, optimize the ecommerce platform, and adapt to the unique market dynamics of the region.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive ecommerce strategy to drive online sales growth and enhance customer satisfaction focusing on market penetration, customer acquisition, and retention across all Connect Caribe offerings.

  • Drive online sales performance by optimizing product offerings, pricing strategies, and promotional campaigns to meet or exceed revenue targets.

  • Oversee the management and continuous optimization of the ecommerce platform, ensuring website functionality, an intuitive user interface, and secure payment processing systems ensuring seamless functionality, scalability, and alignment with regional needs.

  • Enhance the online shopping experience by improving website usability, mobile optimization, and personalized customer journeys, considering Caribbean consumer preferences.

  • Lead and mentor a team of ecommerce professionals, including web developers, digital marketers, and customer service representatives, fostering a high-performing and collaborative, innovative and accountable environment.

  • Partner with the marketing department to design and execute digital marketing campaigns that increase website traffic, customer engagement, and conversion rates and IT department for technical infrastructure.

  • Analyze and adapt to local market trends, cultural nuances, and logistical challenges (e.g., shipping across islands, customs regulations) to ensure operational efficiency

  • Analyze sales data, customer behavior, and market trends to identify opportunities for growth, improve customer experience, and optimize business performance.

  • Negotiate and manage relationships with third-party vendors, including payment gateways, logistics providers, and technology partners, to support seamless operations.

  • Oversee the integration of ecommerce operations with warehouse and logistics functions to ensure efficient and timely order fulfillment for physical goods and services.

  • Set, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of ecommerce initiatives and drive continuous improvement.

  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in ecommerce to keep Connect Caribe competitive in the market.

  • Ensure the ecommerce platform is flexible and adaptable to the specific regulatory, operational, and cultural requirements of each country served by Connect Caribe.

  • Manage the ecommerce budget, including forecasting, expense control, and return on investment (ROI) analysis for ecommerce initiatives.

  • Work closely with the travel and cargo divisions to ensure the ecommerce platform supports their online sales needs and delivers a cohesive customer experience.

  • Ensure compliance with regional regulations, data protection laws (e.g., GDPR for applicable markets), and maintain robust cybersecurity measures for customer data

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in e-commerce, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven success in developing and executing ecommerce strategies that drive revenue growth and improve

  • customer engagement.

  • Strong understanding of ecommerce platforms, digital marketing, customer experience optimization, and

  • data analytics tools.

  • Experience with inventory management and supply chain logistics for ecommerce operations.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance requirements for online businesses.

  • Excellent leadership, team management, and communication abilities to inspire and guide a diverse team.

  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and understand regional market dynamics.

  • Experience in the travel, transportation, or logistics industry is a plus.

  • Familiarity with regional languages (e.g., Spanish, French, Dutch) is a plus.

  • Ability to exercise diplomacy, tact, and judgment in interacting with a wide range of constituents at varying

  • levels of an organization is required. Demonstrates experience in handling confidential information with discretion.

 

Working Conditions

  • Location: Based in Barbados.

  • Hours: Full-time, with flexibility required to accommodate different time zones and peak business periods.

  • Travel: Periodic travel within the Caribbean to meet with stakeholders, vendors, and regional teams.

Compensation

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
