JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary
An information technology (IT) manager is a professional responsible for managing technology systems. They ensure that all aspects of the technology are functioning properly and that all employees are using the technology to its maximum potential. Responsible and accountable for the smooth running of our computer systems within the limits of requirements, specifications, costs and timelines. The IT manager will ensure that these services run smoothly by monitoring their efficiency as well as security measures taken against any vulnerabilities in software programs used on a day-to-day basis, ensuring secure operation throughout every department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Identifying and acting on opportunities to improve and update software and systems

Developing and implementing IT policy and best practice guides for the organization

Designing training programs and workshops for staff

Conducting regular system audits

Identifying opportunities for team training and skills advancement

Manage information technology and computer systems
-
Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations
-
Manage IT staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance

Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures
-
Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
-
Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy

Preserve assets, information security and control structures
-
Handle annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness
-
Lead large IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services
-
Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure
-
Analyze business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to develop solutions for IT needs
-
Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and software
-
Any other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications and Skills

Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems

Expertise in data centre management and data governance

Ability to manage personnel

Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills

Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize

Firm grasp on IT infrastructure and operations best practices
Education and Experience Requirements
-
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
-
2-5 years of experience working in IT operations
-
Experience leading and managing large IT projects and rolling out IT infrastructures across various technologies
-
Proven working experience as an IT Manager or relevant experience
-
Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation
