Marketing & Advertising Manager

Reports To: Director of Travel Communications

Location: Barbados - Regional Oversight and Occasional Travel Required

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing & Advertising Manager to lead the planning and execution of innovative, results-driven campaigns that promote our Cruise Ferry services across the Caribbean. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping our brand, increasing ticket and package sales, and enhancing passenger engagement through strategic marketing and advertising efforts.

The role requires a blend of digital marketing expertise, regional tourism insight, creative vision, and performance analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Campaign and Execution

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing and advertising strategies to grow brand awareness and sales across ferry routes.

  • Launch and manage multi-channel campaigns tailored to leisure and business travelers, group bookings, and diaspora audiences.

  • Lead promotional efforts for new routes, seasonal offers, tourism events, and regional festivals.

  • Supervise and work closely with Digital Content Specialist to maintain company websites and digital channels, including content creation to ensure alignment with business and corporate goals.

  • Work with team to develop a centralized marketing calendar to include spotlight articles, social media and email campaigns, overseeing their full life cycle.

Sales and Revenue Generation

  • Develop and implement targeted sales strategies for travel agents, corporate travel buyers, tour operators, and government tourism boards.

  • Set and monitor sales targets, KPIs, and revenue projections by route, partner, and channel.

  • Lead in the design and implementation of market ready value-added packages (e.g., ferry + hotel, ferry + tour).

  • Create and implement a strategy to attract and secure advertisers in our onboard/digital magazine by highlighting the magazine’s reach and value to targeted brands.

  • Build and maintain relationships with advertisers, preparing compelling media kits and presentations to pitch ad space.

Advertisement Management

  • Plan and manage ad placements across digital, print, radio, outdoor, and social media.

  • Manage media buying, agency relationships, and campaign budgets to maximize ROI.

  • Oversee the development of creative materials including copywriting, design direction, and campaign themes.

  • Assist with the development and lead the creative strategy for the onboard digital magazine, ensuring content is engaging, visually compelling, and aligned with Connect Caribe’s brand and passenger interests.

Digital Marketing and Content Strategy

  • Responsible for overarching strategy of the Connect Caribe corporate website, including UX, SEO and content development. Collaborates closely with web development to optimize website content and conversions.

  • Lead content strategy for social media, website, blogs, and email marketing.

  • Execute SEO/SEM initiatives, paid media, and retargeting campaigns.

  • Monitor and report on digital campaign performance using analytics tools (Google

    Analytics, Meta Business Suite, etc.).

Partnership and Travel Promotion

  • Collaborate with DMOs, hotel groups, travel agencies, and tour operators on co- branded promotions.

  • Represent the brand at trade shows, expos, and tourism events.

  • Support product development and marketing of ferry-inclusive travel packages.

  • Work collaboratively with the marketing team to design events that deliver positive

    experiences for our audiences and drive engagement that leads to long-term customer acquisition and loyalty.

Brand Management

  • Maintain consistent brand identity across all platforms and campaigns

  • Create and manage storytelling assets that reflect Caribbean culture, ferry travel benefits, and customer experiences.

  • Ensure customer-facing touchpoints align with the overall marketing vision.

  • Manage and monitor brand reputation across online review platforms such as TripAdvisor, Google Reviews, and other similar online platform to gather intelligence, make recommendations to ensure brand alignment and reputation is protected and enhanced.

  • Manage brand assets, resources and processes to enable consistent brand delivery, i.e., message frameworks, visual assets, key terminology, accurate data and highlights.

Team and Budget Management

  • Lead a small marketing team and coordinate with external creatives, designers, and media agencies.

  • Proven success managing campaigns across multiple channels with measurable impact.

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with mid- and senior-level management, work both independently and within teams, and take initiative to complete assignments with minimal supervision.

  • Assist in budget development, management and monitoring the marketing budget to ensure cost effective deployment of resources.

  • Report monthly on marketing performance, campaign KPIs, and media effectiveness.

Performance Reporting and Budget Oversight

  • Track campaign KPIs and advertising effectiveness, adjusting strategies accordingly.

  • Prepare monthly performance reports and presentations for senior leadership.

  • Manage vendors and vendor contracts, and campaign timelines.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in marketing and advertising within the travel, cruise, ferry, airline, or tourism sector

  • Strong understanding of Caribbean travel markets and tourism trends

  • Excellent writing, design direction, and project management skills

  • Proficiency with digital tools (Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, Canva, Mailchimp,

    etc.)

  • Advertising agency experience is desirable.

  • Project management experience is an advantage.

  • A high proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office

  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills

  • Experience working with tourism boards, regional travel partners, or destination campaigns.

  • Experience with CRM systems and reservation platforms

  • Familiarity with AI tools to boost efficiency and optimization.
