JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Summary

A dependable warehouse operator who is detail-oriented and possesses physical and mental stamina and operates with optimum precision and efficiency, helping to fulfill orders and prepare them for shipment. To maintain accuracy in inventory management and timely processing of paperwork, to ensure the smooth operation of the warehouse.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintaining an accurate record of all merchandise received and distributed

• Work split shifts and overtime as required to cover all operations efficiently 

• Signing for shipments upon receipt and verifying that the correct merchandise has been received

• Thoroughly inspecting merchandise for any damages and discrepancies

• Contacting suppliers or distributors to resolve any shipment or delivery issues

• Strategically storing merchandise to maximize storage space within the warehouse

• Weighing merchandise and selecting appropriate envelopes, boxes, containers, or crates in which to pack merchandise

• Promptly processing distribution orders or requests, which includes retrieving specified merchandise from storage as well as packing, sealing, and labeling merchandise accordingly

• Help to efficiently carry out all product loading and unloading tasks

• Receive and process new inventory, ensuring contents match manifest documents

• Double-check items to verify the accuracy of outgoing orders and Label warehouse stock for quick and easy identification and retrieval

• Follow all warehouse policies, health and safety rules and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

• Operate tools and machinery safely and efficiently according to company protocol

• Work with other warehouse team members to effectively complete assigned tasks

• Perform other job-related duties as needed

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications as well as warehouse management software

• The ability to safely operate warehouse machinery and equipment and move heavy objects

• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

• Effective communication skills

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis, if required

• Able to work long hours on one's feet and perform physically demanding tasks

• Excellent verbal communicator

• Familiar with common warehouse tools and equipment

• Thorough, alert, and detail-oriented

• Makes safety a priority

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or relevant degree

• Forklift certification and/or ability to successfully complete forklift training

• Proven experience working in a warehouse environment
